How Do Toxins Trigger Weight Problems

How Do Toxins Trigger Weight Problems

how do toxins trigger weight problemsToxins unfortunately come in all shapes and sizes but how do toxins trigger weight problems?! Toxins are found in foods, water, our homes and even the air we breathe. There seems like no escape! Of course some of the larger compound toxins have been banned throughout man-made mass production of some goods however environmental toxins are still present in our day to day lives.

Weight Problems

Our bodies are not designed to put up with everyday toxins and we are constantly trying to adapt and fight an endless variety of pollutants. Toxic chemicals contribute to weight gain in a number of different ways. For example some toxins can affect the disruption of the hormone signalling system that regulates our metabolism, toxins can also cause an accumulation of fat tissue and further increase a risk for poisoning during weight loss as these toxins are released back into our own circulatory system. This does not sound good!

Furthermore these chemicals disrupt and affect the body’s natural ability to balance blood sugar and metabolise cholesterol. Over time, the changes can lead to insulin resistance and the onset of diabetes. The medical model of prescribing drugs and treatment to combat the side effects of environmental toxins can be very limited.

Environmental Toxins

how do toxins trigger weight problemsWhilst we wait for modern medicine to catch up this growing epidemic our body is heavily replied upon to rid itself of absorbed toxins. Our modern day social environment is full to the brim of man-made chemicals that directly impact our body-fat management, we are not designed to process these chemicals and very often the human body struggles to adapt. For example the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals (1) reported that nearly every person they tested were host to many unhealthy chemicals.

Astonishingly these included flame retardants stored in fatty tissue and a hormone-like substance found in plastics, excreted in urine. They further claim that even babies are no exception from contamination of environmental toxins where the average new born has 287 chemicals in their umbilical cord blood, 217 of which are neurotoxic (poisonous to nerves or nerve cells).

Detox Yourself

While this doesn’t make for very easy reading it is important to remember that there is a lot you can do to enhance your body’s natural ability to detox. If you are struggling to lose weight despite eating well and exercising then toxins may be interfering with your body’s metabolism. The body has four main exit routes for toxins and without being too graphic, here are our tips to help you rid your body of harmful chemicals and greatly improve any weight problems you may be experiencing.

Urine

They need your help though with hydration, consuming plenty of water will help their function immensely. By drinking plenty of clean water, around eight 8-ounce glasses of filtered water a day or more will help improve your kidney’s function. One of the first signs of dehydration is the colour of your urine; keep it clear as a great way to monitor your body and kidneys hydration levels.

Poo

At least one bowel movement every day is one of the best ways to give toxins the boot out of your body. Bowel function is something you have a lot of control over, increase your consumption of fibre and yes you guessed it, water. Both fibre and water consumption improves the maintenance of your colon making toxins easier to eject.

Sweat

The human skin is your largest organ of toxic waste. Keeper pores active and clear by working up a sweat three times a week at least. Of course the exercise will be beneficial as a by-product but you could also consider a lower intensity sauna or steam room to naturally detoxify your body through sweat.

Every Breath you Take…

With each breath your lungs take your body consumes fresh oxygen and help transport it throughout the body. As mentioned earlier even the air we breathe is not always clean. On a daily basis your lungs filter out gas fumes, allergens, spores of bacteria and so forth. Breathing deeply will not only strengthen your body’s ability to detoxify but will oxygenate your brain, body, and spirit.
